Natural Language Processing

Welcome to Tsujii Laboratory

The Tsujii Laboratory at the University of Tokyo is a research group with more than 35 members focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computational Linguistics (CL). At TsujiiLab, our goal is to design, develop and implement approaches that allow computers to work with human languages, taking advantage of the rapid growth of human-readable information widely available in electronic form.

Our interests range from fundamental research in areas such as syntactic/semantic parsing and machine learning, to practical applications, such as text mining, machine translation and information retrieval. Our current projects combine the strengths of research based on the principles of Linguistics and Computer Science, development of practical approaches based on this research, and application of these techniques to real problems.

The group cooperates closely with UK National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) in Manchester, UK. Professor Tsujii is Scientific Director of the centre.
